HB1340 & Our First Event of 2011!

April 12, 2011
Lot's of news concerning the Wine Industry in North Dakota . HB1340, which would give wineries in the State of ND the right to self distribute their wine to retail outlets, is a very important step in the survival of the industry in North Dakota. Thirty-nine (39) other states all have a similar law which has increased their sales and has created more jobs, tax revenue and tourism. The wine industry of North Dakota needs YOUR HELP. Please take a moment and contact your Senator and tell them you support HB1340.

On April 7th we hosted our first evening dinner at the Red Trail Vineyard.  A wedding group from Casselton came out and enjoyed our tasty Ribs and Twice Baked Potato Dinner & of course our wines. It was a beautiful evening and one of the warmest days of the year. Buffalo Creek is overflowing, the geese are heading north and most importantly the vines are starting to get happy.....Spring is here!

Cold Climate Conference, Screw Tops & Winter Wine...

February 22, 2011
I thought winter was over until this morning and we had to get out the shovels and clean off the drive. Rats!  Maybe next week?

We enjoyed our trip to the Cold Climate Conference held in Minneapolis this past weekend.  Many interesting meetings on marketing, wine making and grape growing.

This week we will start fermenting our Red Trail White. This white will again be a blend of our Louise Swenson, La Crescent, and Prairie Star.  We will also start our last batch of Marquette's from the 2...

Winter Update...

February 9, 2011
The Winter of 2010 - 2011 was a one to remember.   It seemed like every weekend another storm came through and dumped more snow. To many of us if we weren't shoveling snow we were slipping and sliding on the roads. The good news is, the grapes are having a wonderful winter.  Lot's of snow to protect the roots and temperatures have stayed above minus 30. I am hoping our winter survival for our Marquette's and Frontenac Gris are again minimal. The Swenson Red, Summerset Seedless, & St. P...

2011 NDGGA Meeting A Success!

February 9, 2011
The annual conference & meeting of the North Dakota Grape Growers Association was held in Bismarck this past weekend. My personal opinion, it was the best meeting we've had to date. I really learned a lot from the info that was shared and the wines were nummo as well. Many other members stated the same.

Some of the highlights included: Tami & Kim Bredeson from the Carlos Creek Winery sharing their knowledge, classes on wine making, trellis materials for the vineyard, and winery licensing.  Rod...

Welcome to RedTrailVineyards.com

February 2, 2011
Greetings!

So it's about time we start blogging. And since we started this project in 2003, we have a lot of catching up to do! LOL

Also, since we are going through a complete website redesign, this would be a perfect time to begin.

So as we go through the winter season, the communication will be somewhat sparse. But as spring approaches and we are knee deep in grape growing mode, we'll certainly have more to report.

Stay posted and subscribe to the RSS feed for updates.

Thanks much,
